Ragtime Tavern-Seafood Grill

Jaxmarket posted at 12:48 AM, Monday Sep 14, 2009

A day in Atlantic Beach has to include a visit to Ragtime Tavern-Seafood & Grill.

This local landmark has been a local favorite for over 20 years serving great microbrews, live music and fast, friendly service, this large bar (known as the "Cheers" of Atlantic Beach ) has been drawing in beach bums from the nearby land of sand and sun. Voted "Best Brew Pub" by the locals, the place fills up with people getting off work and doesn't empty out until the band stops playing!

While visiting Ragtime try one of a variety of "award-winning" cuisines including cajun and fresh seafood, chicken and pasta specials using only the freshest ingredients. Great stuff. Enjoy you visit at Ragtime.

Good Experience At Blu Grotto

Submitted by Jaxmarket on Mon, 08/31/2009 - 12:53.

I recently ate at Blu Grotto in Fleming Island and experienced good food and service. The pizza was delicious and Tonisha, my server was friendly and made my dining experience pleasurable. Blu Grotto now offers daily lunch and dinner specials on their new “Recession Proof” menu. On Tuesdays, buy 2 pizzas and get the 2nd of equal or lesser value free. Don’t forget to stop by and see Ashley in the bakery where you will find many desserts to choose from. Make sure you go with an appetite.

Thumbs Up To Outback Steakhouse

Submitted by Jaxmarket on Thu, 08/27/2009 - 00:55.

During tough economic times Outback Steakhouse is thinking of the consumer. Outback ran a special in the Jacksonville area Mint Magazine for a free entree with the purchase of one. All you had to do is text a code from the ad in the Mint and it was honored on Tuesday. I went and the wait was one hour to no surprise. Management said it’s possible that they may run the same add in the near future. I had a great time and had a great meal.

Jaguars vs Titans

Submitted by Jaxmarket on Sat, 10/03/2009 - 12:04

Sitting uncomfortably in the AFC South basement at 0-3, the Tennessee Titans will be looking to right the ship in the latest installment of their heated division rivalry with the 1-2 Jacksonville Jaguars.

Of course, you can throw the records out of the window when these two teams clash. With both the Titans and the Jags embodying the attitudes of their hard-nosed head coaches, per the norm, we should expect a physical contest filled with a ton of punishing hits on Sunday.

At 1-2, the Jaguars have a record that aptly describes their performances this year. Through three games, Jack Del Rio's boys have been inconsistent, to say the least.

In Week 1, they valiantly competed against the Colts but despite their efforts, came up short in the end. The following Sunday, in their home-opener against the Cards, the listless Jags were embarrassed 31-17. Last weekend, Jacksonville defeated a confident Texan team coming off their victory over the Titans.

Judging by the current see-saw pattern, we should expect a lackluster performance by the Jags this Sunday. Hopefully the Jaguars will be on top of the coaster this Sunday and go 2-2.

Daytona Beach on Labor Day Weekend

Jaxmarket posted at 02:51 PM, Thursday Sep 3, 2009

Labor Day weekend is a good time to enjoy Daytona Beach. I love to jump on my Harley and head south. My first stop is always Bubba Gump’s to eat 1 ½ pounds of Cajun shrimp. Then it’s on to the Ocean Deck to watch the tourist sing karaoke. Main Street is always interesting to walk down and visit a few of the pubs and shops along the way.  Even though Daytona is only 90 miles from home you feel that you’re on vacation in the tropics. So after a day of hanging around Daytona it’s always nice to stop in Ormond Beach at Bruce Rossmayers and maybe hit the Saints & Sinners pub or grab a hotdog before going into the store to check out the new merchandise. Then it’s on the way home after enjoying a nice day in Daytona Beach. R.I.P Bruce.

Rock n Ride For Daniel Kids Ride

Submitted by Jaxmarket on Fri, 08/28/2009 - 15:34.

As a Motorcycle enthusiast myself, there have been many cycle events that I have participated in.  As a parent and grandparent, Daniel’s Ride, along with The Toys for Tots Ride, touches my heart because of the compassion I feel for kids.  At the Maddie Clifton Ride, I remember when we arrived at the gravesite; I noticed as we were all getting off our Harleys and Choppers, there was not one dry eye. I thought to myself, here are all of us bikers, some with leathers, some with tattoos, long hair, short hair, beards, women and men coming together as one as WE ALL experienced the same emotion and had great compassion for the family.

Riverside Arts Market

Submitted by Jaxmarket on Thu, 10/01/2009 - 13:38

The Riverside Arts Market is having a great first season. I have enjoyed my visits to RAM which takes place every Saturday until December 19th beneath the Fuller Warren Bridge. Featuring up to 150 artisans displaying their artistic, culinary, and craft wares, and accompanied by live musical entertainment a Farmer’s Market and food vendors, the market is family-friendly, pet-friendly and free to the public. Located at the end of the Northbank River Walk, the market is a leisurely 15 minute stroll from Downtown Jacksonville along the St. Johns River. It is also located just near the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and less than a 5-minute walk to both Memorial Park and Riverside Park. If you don’t have any plans this weekend check out the RAM.

Jamie Foxx brings his comedic and musical genius to Jacksonville

Submitted by Jaxmarket on Thu, 08/27/2009 - 12:18.

Jamie Foxx will be in Jacksonville Friday night August 28 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

Jamie Foxx is a stellar performer who has recently had commendable success in the music industry. Though he is better-known as an actor and comedian, he is far from new to the music industry. Foxx has stated, "I've been working on music for the last 15 years."

Oscar award winner's current tour is named after his popular hit song "Blame It". The song title has become somewhat of an everyday lingo of many who choose to blame their indiscretions on "the alcohol".

Jamie's "Blame It" tour has received rave reviews thus far and will no doubt be a hit in Jacksonville as well.
